Practice Nurses

Our practice nurses work in the surgery both mornings and afternoons. They are qualified to carry out the following:-

• Health promotion clinics
• Blood checks
• Blood samples
• Immunisation for babies and adults
• Cervical smears
• Breast examinations
• Dressings
• Removal of sutures
• Ear syringing
• ECG’s

If you wish to speak to the nurse we will give you a time to call between the hours of 8.30 and 6.30pm.

Clinics and Services

Antenatal

The community midwife works with the doctors to provide care for the expectant mother before and after delivery. Antenatal clinics are held every Tuesday between 8.30 - 2.00pm.

Family planning and contraception

Complete family planning service and contraception advice is available to both females and males.  Please ask the nurse or reception staff for FREE condoms.

Mental Health & Counselling

Our link worker is here one day per week. They cover a variety of problems, mild to moderate mental health problems, also they will point you in the right direction where other help is available for other issues.

Carer Support Worker

If you are an unpaid carer for someone, e.g. relative, neighbour the Support Worker is here one morning a week to offer support and advice on issues such as: available benefits, the carer’s needs, where to go for help and if you want just someone to listen and offer support. Ask at reception for more details.

Translation Service

We provide an interpreter service for patients who are non-English speaking call language line please ask at reception.

Travel Clinic

If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements.  This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required.  There is further information about countries and vaccinations required on the links below

It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible  - at least 6 weeks before you travel - as a second appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations.  These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine.  Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.

Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge.  This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.

East of England Ambulance Service

NON-EMERGENCY PATIENT TRANSPORT SERVICE -  1ST April 2013

The NHS can provide non-emergency transport to certain patients who are eligible, based on their medical need and/or severe mobility issues.

To make a request for transport:

• Call the eligibility screening and advice line on 0845 6038115

        Lines are open Monday to Friday 8:30am to 6.00pm

• Please have your NHS number, details of your GP Surgery and hospital clinical and appointment details to hand.  (if you do not have this information when you call the service you will be asked to call back at another time with the required information)
• You will be asked a series of questions to verify that you are eligible for NHS Transport
• If you are not eligible for transport you will be offered advice on alernative transport options available to you

Your can request a booking up to 14 days in advance of your appointment
